Garment Technologist

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Garment Technologist to join our team. As a Garment Technologist at Pd Empire Ltd, you will be the link between design, development, and production. You will take responsibility for the technical development of garments from concept through to final bulk production. Your expertise will ensure that products meet fit, function, compliance, and quality requirements, while also supporting innovation and sustainability. Work with designers and product teams to develop garments from initial sketch to final production. Conduct fit sessions, analyse samples, and provide clear technical feedback. Create and maintain technical packs/specifications to ensure accuracy across the supply chain. Approve fabrics, trims, and components in line with brand and compliance standards. Oversee testing requirements to ensure garments meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. Troubleshoot manufacturing or construction issues and provide technical solutions. Liaise with suppliers, factories, and internal teams to maintain smooth communication and workflows. Monitor production timelines and ensure adherence to critical path deadlines. Essential: Proven experience as a Garment Technologist or in a similar role within fashion/apparel. Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, grading, and pattern cutting. Proficiency in technical packs/spec sheets (Excel, Illustrator, PLM systems). Excellent understanding of fabrics, trims, and garment testing standards. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills for collaborating with both in-house teams and overseas suppliers. Desirable: Experience across multiple product categories (e.g., womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, sportswear). Knowledge of sustainability practices in garment manufacturing. Familiarity with compliance and legislation (e.g., REACH, CPSIA, care labelling). Competitive salary of £32,000 – £45,000 per annum (based on experience).
